Volume 1:

From Peaked Mountain to Mole Hill
A Tour of Rockingham County's Civil War Past

In an era of "drive-by" tourism, we hope this audio tour is the first of a series that will allow visitors to take a self-guided tour throughout the Shenandoah Valley, introducing them to the people and events of the 19th century Valley.

Accompaning the CD is a guide/map that will pinpoint sites and direct visitors to Civil War sites, museums, interpretive signage, and other interesting historic areas.  The audio portion will help introduce and acclimate the visitor to the time and events that took place, through period music by Valley performers and contemporary historians reciting stories and reading quotes from local family diaries, letters and memoirs.  The information on the CD will not duplicate the signage or museum content, but rather, help enhance the visitor's experience.
